How to Unlock Mars and Venus in Planet Clicker

Published · Updated · 2 min read

Planet Clicker has three planets: Earth, Mars and Venus. You start with Earth already owned. The other two are locked until you pay for them with energy. This guide covers how planets work in the game, what each one costs and what you get for it.

How to move between planets

There is no map screen. The current planet name is shown at the bottom of the screen, with a small arrow on each side. Click the left or right arrow to move to the previous or next planet. The list wraps around, so pressing right on Venus takes you back to Earth. You can look at a locked planet at any time; it is drawn with a lock on it.

What Mars and Venus cost

PlanetPriceEnergy per click (before upgrades)
EarthOwned from the start1
Mars1,000,000 energy1,000
Venus1,000,000,000,000 energy (1 trillion)1,000,000,000

To buy a planet, go to it with the arrows and click the lock while you hold at least its price. The energy is taken from your balance and counted in the "energy spent" figure on the stats screen. If you are short, the game plays a "not enough energy" message instead.

What a new planet gives you

A bigger click. Each planet has its own click power. A fresh Mars click is worth 1,000 energy, which is close to a fully upgraded Earth click (Earth tops out at 1,024 after all ten of its clicker upgrades). A fresh Venus click is worth one billion.

Its own shop. The shop button in the bottom right only appears on a planet you own, and the shop lists that planet's upgrades only. Mars sells solar panels, an oil mine, a coal power plant, a nuclear power plant and alien technology. Venus sells an iron mine, a lava power plant and future technology. Each planet also has its own clicker upgrade.

Production carries over. Energy per second is one shared total. The Earth generators you bought keep paying while you sit on Mars or Venus, so nothing is lost by moving on.

A simple route

  1. Earth to one million. Click Earth and buy Earth generators and the Earth clicker upgrade as you can afford them. Once your income is in the thousands per second, saving one million for Mars does not take long.
  2. Buy Mars, then use it. Switch your clicking to Mars straight away, since each click there is worth a thousand times a basic Earth click. Spend on the Mars clicker upgrade (each one multiplies Mars click power by 4) and on Mars generators.
  3. Save for Venus. One trillion is a big jump from one million. Most of it will come from Mars production, so keep adding Mars generators until your energy per second is high enough that the trillion mark is in sight.
  4. On Venus. Click Venus, buy its clicker upgrade (x8 click power each) and its three generators.

Is there a fourth planet?

No. Earth, Mars and Venus are the only planets in the game. On the project page the developer, Coltroc, wrote that more planets probably will not be added because of the limits Scratch has with very large numbers.
